The Seventh Circuit U.S. Court of Appeals has issued a decision in favor of the firm’s client, vacating the district court’s conviction and mandatory, consecutive sentence under 18 U.S.C. sec. 924(c) and remanding for resentencing. After the United States Supreme Court issued a decision holding that a subsection of that statute was unconstitutionally vague, see United States v. Davis, 139 S. Ct. 2319 (2019), the government conceded that the client’s 924(c) conviction should be reversed. The Court of Appeals agreed.
Vanessa Eisenmann and Michelle Jacobs represented the defendant on appeal. The firm now has 14 criminal-defense victories in the Seventh Circuit since opening in 2013.
